How to Improve Your CCRIS Before Applying for a Business Loan

Before applying for business financing, it is sensible to review the credit information that may form part of a lender’s assessment. The aim is not to chase a promised outcome; it is to understand your records, correct inaccuracies through the proper channels and make a more complete application.

Access your own CCRIS information

Use BNM eCCRIS to review your CCRIS information. Check it alongside the business records you plan to submit, and keep the review private rather than sharing sensitive details with unverified intermediaries.

Resolve inaccuracies through the right party

If you believe a record is inaccurate, contact the relevant financial institution or use its established correction process. A directory cannot amend credit information and should not be relied on for a credit-record decision.

Make future commitments manageable

Consider whether the proposed repayment obligation is realistic for the business’s cash flow before applying. Keeping records organised and meeting existing obligations responsibly are practical preparation steps, but no action can guarantee a lender’s decision.

Prepare a complete application

Review the provider’s current document checklist and present accurate business information. If CTOS information is also relevant, read the CTOS and business loans guide and check CTOS through its official channel.

Verify credit information

Use official channels for your own records

Verify CCRIS information through BNM eCCRIS and review CTOS information through CTOS’s official channel. For lender requirements, licensing status and current terms, check directly with the provider or the relevant official authority.
